The design challenge was to create a minimal mark that honors Arctic wildlife and geographical significance without losing the town’s signature charm.
I started by distilling the Northern Lights and Arctic wildlife into their simplest forms. This design focuses on balancing Rovaniemi’s natural grit with its reputation for beauty and festivity.

As Santa’s official hometown, Rovaniemi’s reindeer symbolize 'Arctic Magic, bridging ancient heritage with modern folklore.
Representing rarity, suggesting that a trip to Rovaniemi is a once in a life time experience Three stars represent the coordinates: marking the artic circle, the north star, and the magic of Santa’s hometown and the northern lights.
Inspired by the friend of the hiker, this concept uses the Siberian Jay to symbolize the curious, welcoming spirit of Rovaniemi and the local folklore of the reincarnated woodsman.
